Cee-Lo Green, the Man of Many Talents

Born May 30, 1974 as Thomas Calloway, Atlanta, Georgia native Cee-Lo Green is like a big bowl of talent and energy mixed together then baked. The multi-talented and gaudy musical artists made a name for himself as part of pioneering Southern rappers, Goodie Mob.
Before the hip-hop, funk, soul, and R&B; artist broke away from his group in the early 2000s, Green saw serious waves of success from his debut with the Goodie Mob on their first album, Soul Food (1995). He was responsible for singing the hooks on some of their best on the albums best songs (Cell Therapy, Soul Food, Black Ice).
The group did not last long, however, and after a five-year span of a few releases, he split with Goodie Mob for a promising solo deal with label Arista. The deal came in the wake of Arista's success with OutKast's Stankonia (notably the single "Ms. Jackson").
L.A Reid, head of the lablel Arista, undobulty saw the potential talen in the artist and allowed him to record the a solo album, Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections (2002). The album composed on sounds unlike anything else out there, different from Cee-Los past works with Goodie Mob, different from his neo-soul generation, and different from pretty much everything else, except maybe some of the wierded corners of some of Outkasts songs.
The album never received much commercial appeal and he returned with another album in early 2004, Cee-Lo Green Is the Soul Machine. This album was just as free-spirited as his first album, however, was a more focused effort and followed more radio-friendly singles. Producers included hitmakers such as Timbaland, Jazze Pha, and the Neptunes as well as production from the artist himself.
Green is now working on doing a collaboration, called Gnarls Barkley, with DJ Danger Mouse. St. Elsewhere, which is to be the first album, is scheduled to be released in May of 2006. He has also since returned to Goodie Mob and is also working with them for a new Goodie Mob album.
